Full Service Insurance Recognition Day!

Back in May we had the wonderful pleasure of working with Dina Crigger of Full Service Insurance in Franklin, TN. Dina had only been at Full Service Insurance for a little while and came in to order an award for an employee who'd been there for quite some time. She came in with such energy and excitement about recognition that she went back and re-vamped their whole recognition program. Here are a few things she had to say...

"What a success!! Everyone was so excited and surprised. Full Service Insurance has so much longevity to have been recognized. We could not have done it without the help of The Trophy House. If anyone comes in and wants to start or re-vamp their recognition program, I would love to work with you and those folks to get the ball rolling for them. I would be happy to help them. Although it's no longer October, which is "Breast Cancer Awareness" month, we all know that cancer continues all year round. Many of us have been affected by breast cancer in some fashion. Whether or not it's a relative or friend, we know that this is a very difficult time for all who are involved. Several of us here at Trophy House have had relatives affected by this disease and when we saw this new resin we immediately had to have it. If you know somebody who could use a little pick me up or has even beat cancer, this makes a great little gift to honor the brave women who fight breast cancer.

Engraving Hardwood Floors

Every once in a while you get to meet a really great person with an amazing story. Such was our experience with Shawn Monfette. We had the great privilege of working with Shawn (owner and operator) of M&M Flooring. He came in with a really creative idea to engrave some hardwood floor for a client of his. The gentleman whose floor he was installing was a tobacco farmer and Shawn wanted to do something really special for him. Shawn told us what he wanted and we got right to it. Everything about this piece is one hundred percent custom. Shawn made the floor and Trophy House did all the graphics and engraving. (I know what you're thinking and yes, we do lots of things besides trophies). It looked great when the engraving was finished but after it was stained and installed is was unbelievable! It's been way too long! Lots going on at the Trophy House!

It began as any average day at Trophy House Awards, you know with the lights on. And then all of a sudden they were not. We're still not sure what happened, but the shopping center was without power for some time. Never fear though, because the Trophy House staff never rest. It was actually all quite funny as Isaac just picked up all of the stuff he was working on and went in the showroom to work with some window light and we brought out the crystal awards that needed to be cleaned. Luckily after some time they did come back on and we were back in the groove.

Working with The Green Team Inc.

They work with a lot of big name hotels all around the country but are based right here in Nashville.

Interesting facts about recognition awards...

Recently, a customer came in and said that the morale of their business was doing great and that all of the employees were really enjoying the new recognition program. It got me thinking about the correlation between awards/recognition and employee satisfaction and drive for their company. In my search I found this very interesting article on The Business Research Lab's website.

"There is a definite link between the intention of people to stay at their place of employment and reward/recognition. Indeed, recent Business Research Lab studies have shown that the correlation between the length of time people intend to stay with their current employers and the recognition given for work that is well done is .27 -- a positive and statistically significant relationship. The relationship between monetary rewards and intention to stay also is positive, but somewhat less so.

From this we can extrapolate that rewarding and recognizing positive results is an important factor in retaining employees. However, we would be negligent if we did not state that there are other even more important factors. Our data suggest that creating a nurturing environment, one in which everyone seems to be pulling in the same direction and in which peoples' contributions are valued, is even more important than reward and recognition. The strongest relationships between the intention of people to stay and other attributes include such items as pride in the employer, the employees' affinity for the type of work, the leadership skills of management, trust, and teamwork. Thus, appropriate reward and recognition should be viewed as an important component in the creation of an overall positive environment in which both employees and employer can thrive.

The below graph sheds some additional light on the subject.

Our data also suggest that reward/recognition are important to employee motivation. We have one attribute worded "I feel I am contributing to this company's mission." While this attribute is comprised of factors in addition to "motivation," it certainly includes motivation. The correlation between this attribute and the statement "this company gives enough recognition for work that's well done" is a positive .38 -- a statistically significant figure. As is the case with the intention to stay with a company, this factor does not act in isolation. Other factors are more important; in particular -- teamwork and leadership skills.

These findings are not unusual. While they are from the aggregate results of many corporations, in individual studies we often find that the "soft" factors are those that tend to increase employee satisfaction, tenure, and motivation. People enjoy working, and thrive in organizations that create positive work environments; environments where they can make a difference and where most people in the organization are competent and pulling together to move the company forward. Appropriately structured reward and recognition programs are important, but not exclusive, components in this mix."

The Liam Cup, Custom Award for Bullmastiff Champion

Recently, we had the great pleasure of working with Gerald Greer and Scott Hoffman, M.D. of Starry Knight Bullmastiffs. Their dog Liam (Bastion's Music In The Glen) has won numerous titles and is the only dog to win the National Specialty 3 times and retire all 6 challenge trophies. Battlefield Region Car Club
